Isaiah 40:12-32 | Does science have all the answers?

Isaiah 40:12-32 | Does science have all the answers?

1. Would you agree that many people these days have embraced the idea that science has all the answers? Why do they think this way?

2. How do you see the distinction between science and biblical revelation/faith?

3. Are you embarrassed or at least defensive about the biblical revelation of creation and God’s sustaining work in our world today?

4. Is the creation account in Genesis a lovely mythical account written by a primitive group of people who had a very limited perspective and were trying to explain what they could see?

5. Why has the church over the years tied itself in knots by seeking to interpret the creation accounts as literal?

6. What are the limits of science and the limits of faith/revelation?

7. Read Psalm 8. How do the wonders of creation impact us?

8. Read Romans 1.18-20 How do we explain the fact that people refuse to acknowledge the God of creation?

9. Christians have a clear sense of hope for the future. Read Romans 8.18-21. What is this hope and how should that impact the way we live and act today? Should we be playing our part in the renewal of the creation today? What might that mean for you and for us as a faith community?
